Salming’s ex-wife talks about the hard times following the announcement of Borge’s disease

Last summer, the sad news came that hockey legend Borgy Salming had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Now his ex-wife, Katharina Peterson, talks about the difficult period that followed the announcement.

We sat in the car for a long time and just cried, she tells Hänt Nyheter.

One day in May, Catarina received the horrible news about Bure’s disease before it was known to the public. She and her daughter Bianca decided to meet Porgy right outside of Sophiahem.

– Then we completely disassembled all three. We sat in the car for a long time and cried. We didn’t do anything else, just sat there and cried, as she told Hunt Nytter.

Despite his terrible fate, Porgy himself tried to console his daughter and ex-wife, says Katharina.

– This is the worst thing I’ve been through in my entire life. ‘I cried a lot,’ she told Hunt Nyheter.

The time since the announcement has been incredibly difficult and Boré’s condition has deteriorated to the point that, among other things, he has lost the ability to speak.

We all know what we’re going through. We are in a dark place, but everyday life must go on. You miss that enthusiasm one hundred percent. It’s hard to feel real joy about something at the moment, says Katharina, things that are otherwise important to you feel completely unimportant.

Salming’s condition has rapidly deteriorated in recent months since his illness became known this summer. But despite the difficulties, he will travel to Canada next week to be honored over the weekend in the Hall of Fame by his old club, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
