Germany has chosen its 26-man squad to participate in the World Cup in Qatar.
And it was not without surprises.
Among other things, the talent of Dortmund, 17-year-old Yusuf Mukoko, earned a place in the team.
On Thursday, Germany captain Hansi Flick chose his first World Cup team in charge of “Die Mannschaft”.
And he has produced quite a few surprises in his 26-man squad that will move to Qatar – including his debut for the national team at the age of 17.
Borussia Dortmund talent Youssouf Mukoko, who is turning 18 in time for the World Cup premiere, made a major breakthrough with the Bundesliga’s first team during the fall, scoring six goals in 13 Bundesliga matches.
Gotze again
He is now also making his debut for the national team, just like 29-year-old Werder Bremen striker Niklas Volkrug.

Another surprise is the return of Mario Gotze, 30, to the national team after a five-year absence. Gotze, who became a great champion in the final when Germany won World Cup gold in 2014.
