AIK had a difficult start to the season and did not live up to the expectations that were placed on the team. Bottom of the table were the Stockholmers who mixed and gave their efforts.
Undercover activities were included during the break
Before the shorter break that was, AIK had suffered three straight bag losses and was in a pinch. Then the club chose to offer activities to the team. Something coach Anton Blomqvist is very secretive about.
– Yes, that’s right, but it stops there.
Was it team building?
– Stop there.
Why don’t you want to talk about the activities?
Because what happens in the dressing room stays there. If this is not nonsense, then you have to take responsibility for it. But now it was just fun.
Why did you choose to include activities?
– It wasn’t anything special. The goal was to get the group together and be together. It’s always nice to be able to brake in this way.
Team leader Christian Sandberg does not want to comment on the activities.
– No, we gathered as a group, he answers briefly.
Was it classic bowling or?
– Haha, no, no. We had many meetings and discussed a lot as a group how we wanted to appear as a team and as individuals. Everyone poignantly agrees that we want to do something meaningful and we have to start at the right end.

No matter what the players did during those activities, it seemed to have an effect. The team started with a 5-0 smash against Kristianstad and followed it up with a 0-2 conversion to 3-2 in extra time against Vita Hasten.
– We continued working on our core game and talked about a few things. We know we need to improve defensively. I think we’ve made some modifications in the behaviors that we’re looking for and guys bought that. That’s what keeps us from winning, says Blomqvist.
Despite turning powerfully against the white horse, Christian Sandburg wasn’t satisfied with the effort.
– We play awkward hockey and that’s not where we want to be. We’re changing the game but it’s still not where we want to be.
What does it say to you as a group that you’re still able to get around?
– It’s the power of the curse. We get pots in third place and are strong at home, but we’re clearly disappointed with the overall effort.
Is there anything you can see that didn’t work for you during the season?
– We’ve been up and down a lot. We did great in many matches, but were an ‘every other day’ team. We need to find softness because our tops are so good. We have to understand that we have to do the work.
