Östersunds FK has received the money – looking to avoid bankruptcy

Östersund appears set to avoid bankruptcy and stay in the Premier League.

With hours left until the meeting with the licensing board, the club received ten million kroner.

Östersund is an underdog, against all odds we made it through the qualifiers and now raising SEK 10 million in just one week is incredible, says Chairman Tom Prep.

At 11 am on Monday, Östersund will hold a meeting on Digital Destiny with the Licensing Board.

The club must report on a plan that is financially sustainable in the short and long term.

In order to do so, Östersund announced that it needed to bring in ten million kronor over the past week.

A light campaign yielded 1 million crowns and the sponsors swelled another 1 million crowns.

And on Sunday evening, eight million kroner is still missing to save the club.

“Looks positively at development”

The amount of 8 million kronor has now been set by the investment company Östersunds Transferintressenter AB.

The commitment and support we’ve seen from the public, as the city is so passionate about premium football, has been huge. The turnout from fans, but also sponsors, shows that elite football is still very much alive in Östersund. At least an important part is that the youth academy gets a continuous target picture in the A-team format, where youngsters can continue to develop within the association and strive to reach the club’s highest level. Today we gave notice to FK Östersund The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the investment company, Jan Oskarsson, said that we will support the company with the contribution of the shareholders and look positively at the development.
