Modo guard Christers Godlevskis collects Kinderägg

There are now two well-known Kinderäggs collectors in Sweden.

Actress Marian Mork, who has more than 30,000 personalities — and Modo guard Kristers Godlevskis, who so far has three.

– Maybe we can trade with each other, says the 30-year-old Latvian, laughing.

Kristers Gudlevskis is signed to Modo for the 22/23 season. Since Tex Williamson’s operation lasted, “The God,” as he’s also called, took care of the first place. After playing 13 games, he was listed at 92 in save percentage.

– It was tough, and we have a good team that plays hockey well. We won a lot of games too, says the 30-year-old on his first time at the club.

Kinderäggs group started

As a goalkeeper, he always, just like everyone else, aims to keep a clean sheet. But for Modo cage keepers, there is an added incentive to do so. No recipient goals mean bonus.

– It’s Ante (Andreas Ericsson, goalkeeper coach) who gives us a surprise after every zero and then became Kindereg. It’s a small, but fun thing to do, says Godlevskis, who isn’t just eating chocolate.

– I collect figures, in each egg there are little animals. He says smiling, so far I have collected three.

But in Sweden, someone else is famous for collecting Kinderägg. Actress Marian Mork has an impressive collection of 30,000 personalities. When the Gudlevskis heard about the group, he had an idea.

– Wow, that’s a lot of chocolate. Maybe we can trade with each other? “Look what I have,” he says, laughing.

– Although if she had 30,000 numbers, she might already have all the numbers, he quickly realizes.

Designed for games in the SHL

Gudlevskis came to Swedish hockey last season when he signed Brynäs during the season. However, there was a second choice behind Veini Vehvelainen.

It’s different, of course, this year. It is much more fun and easier to play as a goalkeeper. You get into it in a better way, he says and continues:

– It’s a completely different team here. We had problems at Brennas, while here we can win every game. I also feel there is more pressure to win games here when we are fighting for the top of the table.

For Godlevskis, the goal is clear, both for the team and on a personal level. SHL access.

– Absolutely. There is no other choice. We just have to keep working hard. I enjoy Sweden and so do my family. We feel at home here. I am happy to be here and of course I want to play as high as possible.

It’s not yet clear how many Kindereggs he managed to amass over the season, but the 30-year-old has set himself a reasonable target.

– I just want to take steps all the time, maybe four. Then he says smiling where he will take me.
