It wasn’t entirely unexpected, however, after AIK in a shock announcement chose to sack its sporting director Henrik Jurelius. After two and a half years in office, AIK concluded after a sports assessment that they should change their sporting director.
– We have done a professional evaluation. The entire board is in complete agreement that we must make a change in the sporting director.
Why should you?
We keep that internally. But we are in complete agreement in the council to change the sporting director.

– We keep this internally.
Isn’t there a problem with not telling people why?
– no I do not think so. We keep it internal.
No sports director is ready
Do you have a new sporting director ready?
– number. We don’t have that. CEO Manuel Lindberg immediately begins the hiring process. So we don’t have that.
During the fall, AIK appointed a group of players and also a new coach in Andreas Brännström.
Is there concern that the sporting director has already started work next season? That Gurelius recruited players and coaches?
– He did a solid and good job for us during his time at AIK. These are, of course, players that every AIK team wants.
How did Gurelius make this decision?

Is this a sign of a turbulent time ahead at AIK?
– No it is not. We shouldn’t have any further AIK disruption at the moment.
