The Swedish Football Association’s awards ceremony has taken on a new home this year.
Sportbladet will broadcast the “Year of Football” where, among other things, the Golden Ball is awarded.

What would be better than summing up Swedish football’s year with Sportbladet?
On December 27, the Swedish Football Association’s “Year of Football” will be broadcast with us.
– Of course, we are proud and happy to be able to broadcast the year of football. Our ability to offer this program to our readers and viewers further cements our position as Sweden’s largest sporting destination, says Sportbladet’s Director of Sports Magnus Herbertsson.

What do you expect from the “Year of Football” program this year?
– Together with the Swedish Football Association, we will offer our football fans a great football-focused program, many tributes, a lot of warmth and absolute football action this year, says Magnus Herbertsson.
Awards such as Diamantbollen, Sweden’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Year, and Goal of the Year will be awarded. But also the Sportbladet and the Swedish Football Association award for the best men’s soccer player in Sweden – Guldbollen, which is attended and distributed by Sportbladet columnist Simon Bank.
– It’s going to be a really nice football evening. We want to create a campfire for everyone interested in football – for example through chats, polls and exciting reading while watching broadcast TV, says Magnus Herbertsson.
In addition to Swedish football’s biggest moments of the year, the program will also introduce viewers to the vast Swedish football action.

During the Corona pandemic, the “Football Gala” switched to the digital version and became the “Year of Football”. a format that will continue in 2022 as well.
– We are very satisfied with the year of football as television. It provides opportunities to pay tribute to our biggest profiles in an up close and personal way while at the same time highlighting the countless great initiatives that are taking place around Swedish football associations, says Helena Top Rehnmark, Director of Marketing and Sales at the Swedish Football Association.
She continues:

In order to delve deeper into what year football has been, some award winners will be introduced in the days leading up to the broadcast.
The program will be led by Sportbladet’s Lyn Nordstrom.
