SVT has stopped bringing Marcus Birro to Morgonstudion

SVT will stop fielding football expert Marcos Biro in the “Morgonstudion”.

The channel is relaying this message after learning that Birro has become an ambassador for a gaming company.

– This is what our policy looks like, says Judith Eck, news director.

Marcos Biro has been a frequent guest on SVT’s Morgonstudion. A soccer expert, the 50-year-old was spotted on the SVT box – most recently yesterday (Wednesday) to talk about the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Now SVT says stop.

I don’t know

The reason for this is that Marcus Birro is an ambassador for a gaming company, which he has been since October 31st.

– Honestly, we did not know that he started this collaboration. no we did not. But now that we realize that, he won’t be able to sit in the ‘Morgonstudion’ in the future. That’s how it is. That’s our policy, says Judith Eck, news director for the programme.

He was an ambassador for the gaming company for about a month. Was it remiss of you not to check it out?

– Well, we don’t have a contract with Marcos Pirro. He is a guest that we bring in at regular intervals. I feel it is a little unreasonable for us to screen all of our guests, especially when it comes to guests that we have been with us for so long. Of course we’ll try to track, but we don’t double-check everyone in our broadcast to see if they’ve entered into new collaborations or new contexts that could be seen as marketing or advertising and thus become an issue, says Judit Oke.

The topic was covered in a column by Sportbladet’s Marcus Livbe on Thursday morning.

Marcos Pirro himself says he has no comments other than that he has no deal with SVT and doesn’t see the whole thing as a big deal.

Other than that, I have nothing to add.
