Norden Jerzic is close to a new job.
According to Sportbladet’s information, he is now on his way to becoming assistant captain Daniel Backström in the U-21 national team.
– I know Norden well since my time in Örebro, and there’s nothing more to say now, says Backstrom.
In October, Sportbladet managed to reveal that Daniel Backström would become the new national team captain of the U-21 national team. He was later bought from Sirius and the whole thing became official just over a month later.
– When I set out on this mission, my focus is one hundred percent on reaching the goal of taking the Swedish under-21 national team to a European Championship play-off in the summer of 2025.
– This is the goal and I will fight everything I can for it. Bäckström said at the time the same day he signed a new employment contract to start speculating whether the future would be all wrong.
According to Sportbladet’s information, Nordin Gerzic, who played under Bäckström in Örebro in 2017-2019, is about to become the national team’s assistant captain.

The parties agree on a general framework of what Gerzic’s duties will look like, and if all goes as planned, he will take over as assistant captain of the national team within the next few weeks. Although nothing has been signed or indicated exactly when it could become official.
– A personnel plan is being developed around the U-21 national team, and it has generally been completed. There’s really nothing I can comment on other than that I know Norden Gerzic very well from my time at Örebro, says Backstrom.
Backstrom was an assistant coach at USC 2017-2019 when Nordin Jerzic played for the club. Gerzic has served as an expert on Discovery while broadcasting football matches with Allsvenskan recently. At the same time, Andreas Pettersson, who is currently the assistant captain of the U-21 national team, is in contention to take over one of Sweden’s national youth teams.
