Herman Hanson is proof of that.
He signed his first contract with the SHL this summer when he was 28 years old, and on Thursday night he also set the tone and scored his first goal in the SHL as HV71 beat Leksand away from home.
It was away weak HV71 against strong Leixand at home, according to Stat, Thursday night at Tejera Arena.
And an important match for both teams, as HV71 struggles at the bottom of the table and Leksand tries to find its form after the national team break.
HV71 had a dream start and for the second game in a row Leksand allowed two fastballs in the opening period, it was the same on Tuesday against Färjestad.
After 11:57, Hermann Hansson scored HV71’s first goal of the evening and it was also the 28-year-old’s first-ever SHL goal. Hanson has had a varied career and grew up playing hockey in Murom in Blekinge. From 2014 to 2019 he played on the hockey team for Mörrum and Kristianstad. Then Hockeyallsvenskan was with Kristianstad and this spring HV71 chose to bet on the striker and gave him his first chance in the best league in Sweden.
So far, there have been five assists in the HV jersey and he has impressed the HV club management so much that on November 19 they opted to sign a new two-year contract with the successful rookie.
Against Leixand came the first goal in the Premier League which set the tone for the game. Hansson also became an HV fan when he played at the HV Summer Hockey School 20 years ago and is now also a favorite jersey scorer.
HV71 played a solid game against Leksand and the game came 0-2 also in the first period when talented 17-year-old Oskar Fisker-Molgaard scored his third goal of the season. Fittingly when Tegera Arena was filled with NHL scouts from Boston, Florida, San Jose, Boston, Detroit, Carolina and Seattle who would seed players in this summer’s NHL Draft.
With the victory, HV71 moved up the table to thirteenth.
