Brazilian soccer legend Pele, who was hospitalized earlier this week, has now sent a salute to thank his fans around the world for all the positive messages he has received.

The 82-year-old Pele underwent surgery to treat cancer in September 2021 and on Tuesday was hospitalized in Sao Paulo.

His daughter Kelly Nascimento was quick and wrote on Instagram that there was no risk to the 82-year-old’s health, but that her father had only been hospitalized to regulate his cancer medication.

The football legend has received encouraging messages from all over the world, including from Brazil captain Tite, who is with the national team at the Qatar World Cup, and from the organizers of the World Cup.

“It’s always good to receive positive messages like this,” Pele wrote on Instagram, next to a picture showing a building in Qatar displaying messages wishing Pele a speedy recovery.

And the message continued, “Thank you to Qatar for this honor and to everyone who sent me my good wishes.”

In December last year, Pele was hospitalized for treatment for an intestinal tumor. The hospital then reported that his condition was stable and that he was expected to be discharged in a few days.

Two months ago, a polyp was removed from the right part of the colon, and he was hospitalized for about a month.

Pele is considered by many to be the best soccer player of all time and among others he won gold in the World Cups in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
