Djurgården beat Tingsryd – his debut for Johan Garbenlov

Djurgården defeated Tingsryd jumbo table

Johann Garbinlov can breathe.

His debut as head coach of Djurgården went as planned.

In the opening match, the Stockholm side beat Tingsred 2-1.

Johan Garbinlov’s debut as head coach was complete and the 54-year-old started as required. After leading the game against the jumbo table Tingsryd, the Stockholm team won 2-1.

Two of the leading scorers

It will prove to be the rookie’s night when it comes to the scorers, too.

In the first period, David Blomgren gave the home team the lead when he scored his first goal for the club by diving after the puck danced on the goal line behind Thomas Redden.

Then youngster Mika Onasfori doubled the score when he also scored his first goal in Djurgårdstryan. The 19-year-old sent an icebreaker which slid between the legs of the Tingsryd goalkeeper.

I tried brazenly on a penalty kick

Djurgården also had the opportunity to take a three-goal lead. Tim Söderlund came about as if he had single-handedly fired a missile at Thomas Redden, but was pulled and awarded a penalty. Then Linus Claassen stepped in and tried to try a trick. He tunneled and tried to backstab him, but Raiden was on board and picked up the gauntlet.

Tingsryd scored low on power play and created nerve in the match, but didn’t come close. The match ended 2-1.

With this, Djurgården achieves its second consecutive victory and collects three new points. However, they lost a position in the table to Södertälje, who have a better goal difference.
