Rosengård nods to the national team group – gives the players a holiday

When Confederation captain Peter Gerhardson gathers Swedish female players for a historic January camp in the Algarve, he will be without the Swedish hero.

Rosengård players are on vacation.

“If our players are going to have some form of time off, it has to happen in January,” wrote sporting director Therese Ciogran.

For the first time, the Swedish women’s national team will do as well as the men’s and will meet in January. Since the collection takes place outside FIFA dates, only the Swedish female players are relevant.

– It’s good that we can do this collection in January. Gerhardson said at the time: In the spring before the World Cup, we only have two official FIFA meetings, so this will be an additional opportunity to see players in our national team environment.

But when Gerhardsson is out of the squad on Tuesday, the Sweden captain will not have any FC Rosengard players with him.

The Swedish champions are on holiday until January 25, as they are in the middle of the Champions League group stage now and play their final game of the season away to Barcelona on 12/22.

In an SMS to Sportbladet, sports director Therese Sjogran wrote:

“If our players are going to have some form of time off, it has to be in January. We play until 12/22.”

However, one person who could be included, for the first time since this summer’s EC qualifiers, is goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl. Veteran Gerhardson said she was available for selection.
