Glenn Stromberg quits SVT after 26 years – becomes exclusive to Viaplay and Nent

Glenn Stromberg, 62, will be spending his final days on SVT next week.

The football commentator on the channel for the next 26 years will be exclusive to the Viaplay group.

– Viaplay is very happy and proud that we and Glenn have agreed a multi-year agreement, says Press Director Fredrik Johansson.

Right now, Glenn Stromberg is in Qatar commentating on the FIFA World Cup with Chris Harrenstam on SVT’s radio broadcast.

This assignment would be the last undertaken by the former major player on the channel service.

Worked at Viaplay and SVT

The 62-year-old will stop and focus solely on Viaplay, where he has appeared on football broadcasts for several years.

Expressen was the first to report this.

For Sportbladet, Fredrik Johansson, Press Director at Viaplay Groups, tells why.

– Feiplay is very happy and proud that we and Glenn have agreed a multi-year agreement. With Viaplay now having the exclusive rights to broadcast the EC and WC men’s qualifiers as well as the Nations League, it is only natural that Glenn will commentate on national team football exclusively for us from 2023, he says.

26 years old

Stromberg has worked at SVT during football tournaments for 26 years, the first time during EC in England in 1996.

Since 2011, he has combined his job with appearing for Viaplay, especially during live broadcasts of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
