He gave up football to become a police officer

Nella Fisher, 38, is no longer a professional soccer player. In the end, the body said no.

For Sportbladet, the veteran talks about the decision, the pain and the new challenges that lie ahead.

It’s an exciting feeling, but also very scary.

She’s won SM gold, Champions League, Bundesliga titles, championship medals with Sweden, and Double Diamond Balls but now her career is over.

Nella Fisher is no longer a professional soccer player.

What made you decide in the end?

– I already knew in the last training, when Andrei drew up the pre-season schedule, that no, how would this come back again.

– I’ve had more and more pains in my body every year and I love playing football but eventually it gets tough mentally so I can’t go on but be careful in training, be smart and so on. It can be smart to let go of some body when quitting smoking, so I finally felt like I had to listen to my body now and actually make up my mind.

– Don’t come as a revelation. It wouldn’t be, but it was just a matter of making a decision so I did.

Withdrew with injury problems

How much is the body wounded? How much was damaged during the season?

– There were problems. I’ve been playing, it seems so stupid of me to say painkillers because it’s two alvedones and one iberin, but still it’s like I have to take 90 percent of the toys, maybe that’s a sign that they’re not healthy for much longer. Or elite sport is generally not healthy but…

– This year I was lucky not to have any major injuries, but it is a sign that the body is not enjoying itself anymore. I still have a little wit.

Do you feel pain in everyday life too?

Constant pain seems exaggerated, but I’m in pain all the time or problems all the time. Then there are different degrees of it, but that’s just the way it is. I suffer from osteoarthritis in my toes and I have various infections in my feet.

– I also live a life where I can’t lie on the couch and wait for the next match. I have an active lifestyle because of the kids and that’s just the way it is. It might have been the same problem if I didn’t have kids, but I can’t choose that now I have to sleep 2 hours before the game.

What’s it like not being soccer player Nella Fischer anymore?

– Nowadays it’s so much fun when other people have a running program to follow and I can choose that day I want to go out and run, and then I do that, and then I pick the pace and so on.

– I sit down and work with my company and do it now without feeling stressed and pressured because there is something else to do.

What type of company do you have?

– It’s called something genius like Nilla Fischer AB. Now I’m preparing a lecture, so maybe that’s what it’s about.

– I haven’t really decided what direction it will go in, but the plan is to give some lectures or be able to take on other assignments. At some point in the future, I might also want to tackle pocket and boys football. Maybe you come as a guest coach or so we’ll see.

You don’t want to let football go

This isn’t the last we’ll hear from Nella Fisher in soccer anyway, is it?

– no not like that. I still feel like I’ll probably have to distance myself because I think it would be very difficult otherwise, but working with boys’ and girls’ football in a way, I think it’s going to be fun.

– Now all I can think of is what I should do. I start my education in January and the question is if there is time for anything other than just education in those years. we will see.

But what about an indoor dog house then?

– It’s a bit hungover, we have horses so the schedule is full and I don’t think I’ll have more time when I have to study.

So how would it feel to sit in school and train to be a police officer?

– At the moment it looks very scary. I have now lived this life for many years and this lifestyle. I haven’t studied since high school so it feels exciting but also very scary.

What’s the scariest thing about it?

– It’s something completely new. Just learning new systems and study techniques. sits. Sit down, work and study. It’s not something I’m used to.

– So it’s always the case, or at least that’s how I feel, when you try something new, it’s uncomfortable not to know if you’re good or not? How difficult is that? and so on. We’ll see how it goes.

– Everything from team work that way. Or yeah, I don’t know that, but that’s my idea of a police profession. This is teamwork. You work closely in different groups with different goals and then go out in the community and possibly help people in vulnerable situations.

– Then we’ll see if that’s what’s meant, but an active job where I think many workdays look different.

“It could be the next GW”

Do you fancy yourself in the field and not sitting inside solving crimes?

– Yes, but first I have to be outside. So maybe I’m the one sitting in the next Leif GW Persson role. we will see.

– Then there are a lot of different orientations in police training, which is also part of the attraction. It’s not just that now you’re a finished police officer, now you’ll be doing it for 20 years. You can work in the field and then you can continue your education in other disciplines. we will see. It could be completely different from what you imagined.

It seems common to become a police officer after profession. Lisa Dahlqvist follows the same path. Who do you think is best suited as a police officer?

– Haha, I don’t know. It feels stupid to say yourself, so I have to say Lisa.

– I know she’s studying too so it’ll be fun. Now we won’t be working on the same set, but it will be fun. I can call her when it gets really hard and she has to help me with what I’m doing.
