Argentina celebrated their final World Cup place in the dressing room

Argentina had every reason to celebrate yesterday.

And in victory songs, the players took the opportunity to send a pass to England and taunt a South American opponent.

“Brazil, what happened? The champion bowed five times”, is one of the lines of the song, sung in the dressing room.

Yes, you can imagine that life is playing right now for all Argentinian football fans.

The country has reached the World Cup final and could become world champions on Sunday for the first time since 1986.

And of course it was with great pleasure that yesterday the fans and the national team celebrated the semi-final victory over Croatia at the iconic Lusail Stadium. According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, the chant, which taunts Brazil and sends a pass to England, has already begun on the pitch.

Taunts in the dressing room

An Instagram video of defender Nicolas Otamendi shows how the players kept entering the dressing room. There they jump, clap and wave their shirts in the air as they sing:

“Brazil, what happened? The five-time champion bowed. Messi went to Rio and stayed with the trophy.”, the song begins, referring to Argentina’s victory in the Copa America last year.

The song then continues with a dream of becoming world champions before the line about England appears.

“Bloody Englishmen. We never forget the Falklands.”

Argentina’s final opponent will be decided tonight. It will be either France or Morocco.

The Falklands War lasted two months between Great Britain and Argentina.
