Croatia won the bronze medal match against Morocco

Croatia collected another World Cup medal four years later with the final against France.

Morocco was defeated 2-1 in the bronze medal match and Croatia have now won medals in half of the World Cups the country has qualified for.

The last World Cup tournament was the first since 1970 that the bronze medal match did not feature three or more goals.

In 2022, the goal ceremony was once again underway, though it was only the beginning of the game that turned into a real goal.

Mislav Orsic scored

It started with a well-executed free-kick from Croatia as Lovro Madjer volleyed home Ivan Perisic. Perisic steered the ball to Josko Gvardiol, who came in full speed and headed in a 1-0 lead.

The goal came in the seventh minute, and after only two minutes, Morocco equalized with Ashraf Dari’s header 1-1 from a free kick.

However, the bronze champions will come from Croatia.

Mislav Orsic hit the post 2-1 at the end of the first half and the goal proved worthy of the bronze medal.

Bronze for Croatia

Croatia won the match 2-1 and the country of four million people thus secured their second consecutive World Cup medal.

It is Croatia’s third World Cup medal overall (bronze 1998 and silver 2018), thus the country has won medals in 50% of the world championships it has participated in.

Morocco must go home with nothing despite the fact that they stood to put in a historic performance and became the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
