Crisis Movement – Roger Millen is back at AIK

A crisis-like start to the season led AIK to move.

Now the club brings a famous aces in the form of Roger Millen.

– The club means a lot to me, says the 66-year-old to the club’s website.

Just hours before the second derby of the season kicks off, AIK delivers news.

The club expands the sporting department and brings in coaching icon Roger Millen. The 66-year-old will act as a sounding board for the coaching staff and will analyze matches from the stands.

– During the latter part of the fall, we assessed and adjusted things and looked at what we could do to help us move forward, and when Anton (Blomqvist, head coach) contacted me three weeks ago with this idea, it felt like a step in the right direction, says sporting director Christopher Malm For the club to the club’s website.

Back to FC Stockholm

Roger Millen has a number of seasons at AIK behind him and took over as head coach as recently as the 2019/20 season.

– great fun to be back at AIK. I’ve gotten to know Anton over the years, so when he called and asked if I’d like to help him and the team, I felt inspired. Anton is a good leader who has the future ahead of him and if I can help him and AIK in any way, that would be great. “I have great memories at AIK and the club means a lot to me and I am looking forward to it,” says Melin.

“Unacceptable condition”

AIK has had a crisis-like start to the season and is in 12th place in the table after 27 matches played.

Anton Blomqvist on the decision:

– I have known Roger in recent years and talk to him from time to time. We put ourselves in a situation in terms of standings because of the first leg we played that no one can be happy with. We need to do better in the latter part of the season. He says if I can do something to make this team better, I will.
