Sweden beat Finland – in the semi-finals of the JVM

Sweden plays in the semi-finals of the JVM.

The young crowns of Finland got their revenge after two straight matches against their worst rival.

Team captain Viktor Sternborg became a boxing hero with a minute left in the game.

Despite the tremendous pressure on the opponent’s goal, tied at 1-1, the young crowns did not get a reward in the second half of the JVM quarter-final against Finland.

– I think we’re absolutely superior there, said TV6’s Fabian Liesel at the break in the second half after hitting the post and the crossbar.

– I think we deserve a goal or two for sure. But we just have to keep working, and I think we’ll have that match.

Fabian Liesel got it right, after a crazy drama.

Finland took the lead early in the third period, but Leo Karlsson scored his second goal of the game to tie the score at 2-2 with just over three minutes remaining.

Then the decision came a minute ago – in the playbox.

Viktor Sternborg curled the puck himself, liberated in front of goal and was cool when he made it 3-2 to Sweden.

After two straight matches against Finland, in the quarter-finals in 2021 and in the semi-finals in 2022, the minor crowns can finally celebrate a breakthrough against their worst rival.
