Moncton / Stockholm. Carl Lindbohm was quiet and Leo Carlson believed in gold.
Junior crowns were confident after the dramatic quarter-finals.
– We told each other that we would have two more matches, says Karl Lindbom.
Leo Karlsson didn’t score the decisive goal but it was certainly decisive as Sweden progressed to the semi-finals of the Junior World Cup.
Karlsson first equalized at 1–1 against Finland and then made it 2–2 with just over three minutes remaining. Both times he stomped the puck from close range.
“Obviously, it sounds like very simple goals, but I was in the right place,” says Carlson.
Carlson believes in gold
Leo Karlsson was named Sweden’s player of the match and started for JVM after being bothered by illness issues.
The speed was there today and the confidence was there, he says.
How much does it mean to score?
– This means a lot for self-confidence and for the team.
How far does this go?
– Sure gone. I believe in that.
“like each other a lot”
In the final seconds, Finland played six against four, and Swedish cage keeper Carl Lindbom made a wonderful save from a powerful shot from Finnish star Joachim Kimmel.
– It was fun, of course. It’s good to see her (the puck) in the puck when I’m on the ice, Lindbom says.
It ranks highly among his best saves.
– It was very important first of all.
Carl Lindblom believes Sweden’s transformation refers to the character and says he believes in transformation until the very end.
– We told each other that we would play two more games. We love each other a lot on this set, so it really felt totally cool. I felt we would play when we had such a long attacking change-up when the others would come,” said the goalkeeper.
