Skellefteå touches a 21-year-old record – 16th consecutive win

Skellefteå continues to run like a train in the SHL.

After a 7-2 against HV71, the team ended Färjestad’s 16-game winning streak.

“It’s not easy in this league the way it is,” Jonathan Bodas tells C More.

Skellefteå has not lost since October 27th. Against HV71, the match appeared to be over after only one period.

Max Lindholm gave the home team the lead after six minutes and after another six Joachim Lindström set up the second goal.

Before the end of the period, even Oscar Muller had found the net.

Andre Peterson sparked hope for the visitors 57 seconds into the second half.

Beats the old record

But the joy did not last long. Less than half a minute later, Tom Kuhnackel made it 4-1 to Skelleftea. When Philip Sandberg then increased to 5-1 on the power play, Skelleftea changed goalie from Johnny Ortyo to Jonas Gunnarsson.

This didn’t stop Skellefteå’s goal celebration. Just minutes later, Müller scored his second goal of the match.

Skellefteå eventually won 7-2 and claimed their 16th consecutive victory. The team thus equals the record set by Färjestad from the 2001/2002 season.

– It’s not easy in this league as it is, but I think the media focus on it more. We have a lot to improve on the game and we’re humbled every night and I think that’s the key, Jonathan Bodas says, and continues:

It’s a difficult game to come in like this after a derby, but I think we send clear signals throughout the game. I don’t think HV feels like she’s getting anything.
