AIK’s first training at the Skytteholms IP didn’t have any new acquisitions introduced, but instead a framework that was praised in unison.
– I expected it to be chaotic, but not like this, Ilias Durmaz tells Sportbladet.
No expense was spared when AIK’s men’s and women’s teams trained for the first time at Skytteholms IP in front of 3,500 packed spectators.
Fireworks flew into the air one after another. Fireworks. Giant sparks.
– Wonderful. It is difficult to describe in words. Maybe you can say Happy New Year again, because that was more fireworks than New Year’s. The best supporters I have ever had. I haven’t experienced anything like this in my 15 years abroad. It’s great to be a part of it,” says insider John Guidetti after warming up.
“Can’t compare with others”
We’ve seen a totally New Year’s clock-inspired welcome at many of Sweden’s senior men’s teams’ first training sessions this winter. Both in Gothenburg and Malmö, players were met with fireworks displays from the stands.
However, this phenomenon in AIK is not new, as fireworks are a very common sight during Skytteholm’s first practice session.
Damn, it’s always fun. You’ve had it a few times when you belonged to another team. So you are on holiday in Solna and you see a lot of fireworks. Equal fun every time, Sotirios “Sotte” Papagiannopoulos tells Sportbladet after the first session.
Do you feel like other teams tried to copy you with their firecracker tires?
– is this real? Not everyone else is this way.
The new acquisition Ilias Durmaz agrees with his teammate.
– It can’t be compared. AIK is upset and the best and nobody comes close, the 22-year-old tells Sportbladet.
A 22-year-old whose 33-year-old brother was nowhere to be seen.
Little Brother Durmaz: “Naughty Hole in Him”
Before the premiere session, many believed that Jamie Durmaz would be officially introduced as a new AIK player (there may be something Sportbladet wrote about previously) player a few hours before training. chirp “Let’s go” with a wink smile and a soccer ball.
Where is the brother then?
– Haha, I didn’t actually talk to him today. But I really hope we can play together. My dream was to play with my brother, but first of all he is a great player, says younger brother Durmaz.
But you talked a little bit about the possibility of playing together?
– Of course. I trust holes in it. We talk about it a lot.
Regardless of whether Big Brother Jimmy was actually introduced in the near future in AIK equipment or not, he missed the first training anyway.
