But the kids kept fighting and, like I said, rekindled hope with a really tough victory against the Winnipeg Jets at Little Caesars Arena last night.
– We played better hockey last week. Just tonight, I don’t know if we’re really at our best, but we scored seven goals, so you have to be satisfied anyway, says Oskar Sundqvist on the phone from his hometown of Michigan.
One of them, a neat one at the end of the first period, was scored by “Sunken” himself.
– I received a great pass from Moritz Seider well placed, it was just a matter of pressure, he comments.
A tribute to his Swedish teammate
Rookie Jonathan Berggren has also scored and has done so often since the club realized he deserved a shot in the NHL. The strike of the night was the seventh of the season.
– Peregrine was very good and was of great use to the team. He knows where he is and always finds the right surfaces. High praise for his compatriot Sundqvist, who also contributed to last night’s help.
After the victory over the Jets, the Redwings have nine points up to last place in the East. It’s a lot in a two-point system, but the chance didn’t go away.

Lukas Raymond had two assists a game and Gustav Lindström one – as well as the Jets’ Swedes Axel Johnson-Felby and David Gustafsson both scored on the scoresheet with both playing forwards.
