Jimmy Durmaz is ready for AIK – Submitted by the club

Sportbladet’s disclosure confirmed.

Jimmy Durmaz is ready for AIK.

– It’s the kind of replacement we were looking for after Sebastian Larsson put his shoes on the shelf, says club director Manuel Lindberg.

On December 12, Sportbladet was able to find out that Jimmy Durmaz was about to sign with AIK. Then the 33-year-old midfielder broke the contract with his Turkish club Fatih Karagumruk.

Now AIK confirms the transfer. Durmaz has signed a contract that runs until 2024.

– We finally got everything in place and I can’t wait to get it all started. “It feels great to sign with AIK as I feel I can contribute a lot,” Jamie Durmaz says in a press release.

“Natural leader”

Durmaz thus becomes teammates with his younger brother Ilyas Durmaz, who signed for AIK in December.

– Jamie is a natural leader with an incredible amount of experience who will be useful both on the field and in the dressing room and is the kind of replacement we were looking for after Sebastian Larsson hung up his boots, says club director and acting sporting director Manuel Lindberg and continues:

Jimmy has played consistently every week at the highest level in Turkey for several years and has come here in good form. He has played in a number of midfield positions over the years, most recently in a defensive midfield position as a playmaker, but also as a substitute centre-back.
