A draw between Arsenal and Chelsea in the Women’s Super League

Five Swedes were on their way to the summit meeting of the Women’s Super League.

Arsenal cruised to victory in the derby but Chelsea star Sam Kerr scored a late equalizer.

– It’s been done really well, says Viaplay expert Saga Fredriksson.

Chelsea struggled desperately to create chances and looked destined for defeat away to Arsenal, but substitute Samantha Kerr stepped in to head in a balancing cross from Jelena Kankovic in the 89th minute.

– It’s been done really well, says Viaplay expert Saga Fredriksson.

– You can’t speak out of timing, she takes every opportunity she gets, and follows through.

The end was only Chelsea’s second of the match and it was a huge shock to Arsenal, who until then had been in control of the match.

Swedish attacking duo Stina Plastinius and Lena Hurtig have repeatedly troubled the Chelsea defense, but have been unsuccessful in the final minutes.

It was Hurtig who was closest to the net, as he started his first league match with Arsenal, but the header was saved by his teammate Zisera Mosovic after blocking a wonderful reaction.

Two minutes later, however, Chelsea’s Swedish keeper had no chance, when Niamh Charles ended up on the trail and had a save from Kaitlin Forward just inside the penalty area.

Arsenal captain Kim Little was the same safety from a penalty kick and it was 1-0 on the scoreboard.

– She’s in such a fantastic position that even if Mosović had gone right, she wouldn’t have been able to do anything, says Fiplay expert Saga Fredriksson.

However, there were no more goals in the match and Chelsea went on to hold Arsenal three points behind at the top of the league.

Among the Swedes, there was one player in particular who stood out – goalkeeper Zisera Mosović.

– It sends a signal to Gerhardson that she wants to fight for a toilet space, says expert commentator Henrik Strömblad.

– Yes really. You did a great job. Saga Fredriksson says she is convincing in the penalty area and makes many good reflex saves.

In addition to Lena Hurtig, Zisira Mosovitch and Stina Plakstenius, Magdalena Erickson and Jonah Retting-Canried also played.
