Robin Lehner Files for Bankruptcy – Because of Alien Snakes

NHL professional Robin Lehner, 31, has filed for bankruptcy in Sweden.

Now it has filed for bankruptcy in the US, SinBin.vegas reports.

The debt is based on his ownership of an exotic snake farm.

In early December, Sportbladet reported that Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner, 31, filed for personal bankruptcy in Sweden. This is because he had not repaid a debt of just over five million kroner.

Of course, this decision will be appealed, said Lehner’s lawyer Klas Jorgensen.

SinBin.vegas is now reporting that Robin Lehner and his wife, Donia, have filed for bankruptcy in the US.

According to the bankruptcy filing, Lehner is the owner of a company that operates a snake farm and has debts of between $10 and $50 million, which equates to approximately 100 to 500 million kronor. Lehner estimates his private assets to be between 10 and 100 million SEK.

He bought exotic snakes for 12 million

According to KMIZ, Lehner allegedly bought a batch of exotic snakes in 2017 from a man named Ben Renick for SEK 12 million, an amount Lehner had to pay quarterly.

He paid this amount, but a few months later Ben Renick was killed by his wife, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Lehner was then sued to stop the payments. For his part, the Swede claimed to have paid millions of dollars to take care of Renick’s animals. In November 2019, the two parties announced a settlement, but kept the terms secret.

According to the bankruptcy filing, Lehner’s debt is “primarily based on corporate debt incurred to raise money for a business or investment.”

He wrote a five-year contract

In 2020, Lehner signed a five-year contract extension with the Vegas Golden Knights worth SEK 260 million. He has not played this year due to hip surgery and is not expected to play this season.

In an email to SinBin.vegas, Robin Lehner’s attorney said both the Golden Knights’ legal counsel and creditors are aware of the bankruptcy filings.
