Arsenal played a double derby on Sunday.
Then they took the opportunity to pay attention to the star’s mother, Beth Mead, who had recently passed away from cancer.

Meade was not on the field as Arsenal embarked on a derby against Chelsea in the Women’s Super League. The striker pulled his cruciate ligament in November and risks losing England’s bid for World Cup gold this summer.
But the setbacks don’t stop there for the 27-year-old.
Died of cancer
Since 2021, she has been open about her mother, June, being diagnosed with cancer. And earlier this week, the daughter shared an emotional post on Facebook Social media She announced that the mother had now lost the battle against the disease.
“At 1 am on January 7th, our beautiful, kind, and funny mother passed away after a long battle with ovarian cancer,” Mead writes.
Since then, tributes have been pouring into June Mead, and when both the women’s and men’s teams played at Arsenal on Sunday, she and her daughter were paid tribute on social media.
Ahead of kick-off for the women’s team match against Chelsea, the club shared a post on Twitter that read: “For you, June Med.”
And after the men’s team won 2-0 in the derby against Tottenham, an image was shared where the players were holding a T-shirt with ‘Thinking of You Beth’ written on the back.
Even Sunderland, where Mead previously played, chose to honor the mum with a minute’s silence ahead of their match against Durham in the Women’s Super League 2.
On Twitter, Beth Mead is grateful for the support.
