Philemon Molala was bitten to death by his dogs

Zambian football mourns one of its golden generation heroes.

Philemon Molala, 60, was killed by his dogs.

– It’s a tragic end, says Sidney Mongala of the Football Association of Zambia.

Zambia hasn’t had football’s biggest successes but in 1984 the country hit a scalp.

One of the golden champions in the East and Central African Championships was winger Philemon Molala, who scored twice in the semi-final against Kenya.

Now Molala passed away at the age of sixty.

Bitten to death

Mollala’s wife found him dead in the garden shortly after the couple’s dogs barked.

– Police spokesman Sam Tsilanian said, according to ESPN, that they didn’t think to go out and search because they live on a busy street and dogs often bark at pedestrians or passing vehicles.

When Molala was finally found by his wife, he had been bitten to death.

The golden generation

Philemon Molala also played in the South African League and worked in the country after his career. But he is still remembered by his homeland after his days in the national team.

It is sponsored by the Football Association of Zambia.

– It’s a tragic end, spokesperson Sydney Monggala says in a statement.

Philemon Molala was part of the golden generation of Zambian football dubbed KK11, after the country’s president and founder Kenneth Kaunda.

Mulala himself was called “Chumbu” – a hard worker.
