Memphis Depay has secured his transfer from Barcelona.
The Dutchman signed for Atletico Madrid.
The transfer fee is said to be around three million euros.
Work has been underway for some time, and Spanish capital club Atletico Madrid announced, on Friday, the signing of Memphis Depay, 28, from arch-rivals Barcelona.
The contract runs for more than two and a half years and the transfer fee is €3m (approximately SEK 35m) plus another €1m in bonuses.
Xavi is not sure
During the 18 months he spent at Camp Nou, Depay made 42 appearances, scoring 14 goals and assisting 2. He scored 13 of these goals in his first season with the club, as he became the club’s top scorer in the La Liga season 2021/2022.
This season, coach Xavi mainly pushed him to the bench, as the Dutchman got only 206 minutes of playing time.
The striker has previously represented Lyon, Manchester United and PSV in his career.
Carrasco purchase option in the agreement
Barcelona have also confirmed that Depay, after being more or less forced by a move to Atlético, has left the club. This is in a statement where they not only confirm the transfer amount – but also confirm that the agreement contains a clause relating to another player.
Backed by the transfer, Barcelona have negotiated a voluntary buy-out option, which would enable the club to sign Atletico’s Belgian Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, 29, for a fixed fee this summer.
An amount that, if we are to believe what has been reported in the Spanish media, is around 20 million euros, just under 225 million crowns.
