Djurgården is the winning team again.
After six consecutive defeats, Stockholm won 3-0 at home against Modu.
– It’s a great setting for this match, said team coach Johann Garbenlov V.C. Moore.
3–6 in Örnsköldsvik on Wednesday.
But on Friday night, Djurgården took revenge on league leaders Modo when they won 3-0 at home at Hovet.
The home team had a good start to the game and were about to lead once, twice and three times when Marcus Kruger scored an open goal and Liam Ogren had two chances.
Kristers Gudlevskis saved there, but the latter Öhgren would take his revenge a few minutes later when, after a careless Modo, he picked up the puck and sent it between the legs of the Latvian goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
– The first 20 games aren’t particularly good, we play too hard and too slowly, says guest VC More Pontus Nassin.
“Wow he came.”
2-0 came midway through the period via Wiktor Nilsson who scored his 11th goal of the season after throwing the puck after preparatory work from Stefan Elliott and Ludwig Rensfeldt.
It’s great, we had some good chances,” said the scorer on C Moore’s broadcast.
Zero serial leaders
The third period was a tight story as Djurgården had to focus on defending against Modo’s chase.
Sebastian Olson was a guest with two good chances to slim down, but he didn’t get the hack behind Canadian Matthew Galagda, who made it again.
Edvin Hammarlund finished the match 3-0 in an open box.
This victory is Djurgården’s first since the derby victory over AIK on 27 December.
The team ranks fifth in the series, 18 points behind Modo, who continues to lead Svenskan hockey.
Spread the bet
Modu coach Matthias Carlin was not satisfied with the team’s performance.
– I am very disappointed, says V.C. Moore.
– We offer a lot of scoring opportunities. We have to take a time-out after five minutes it gets better but then we go back to the starting point.
