Orebro defeated HV71 in the SHL – Apollos silenced the critics

Rodrigo Apóles had a good day in action when Örebro won 5-2 at home against HV71.

The Latvian brought down the visitors with a hat-trick – thus silencing his critics.

– It silences all potential doubters given everything that has happened, says Niklas Wikegaard.

Örebro got off to a good start at home against HV71.

Five minutes later, Rodrigo Apoles pushed the puck into the roof of the net to make it 1-0. And barely seven minutes later, the crowd had to cheer again – when, after a remarkable finish, he scored his second goal of the evening.

The goal was the Latvian’s 13th of the season, and the 27-year-old thus provided an answer to his critics.

Silence the critics

– all conceivable skeptics fall silent given all that happened here a week or so ago. He shows he’s in his place, does the job and continues to score good goals for Örebro, says Niklas Wikigaard at C. More.

Apollos ended up in bad weather since it became clear that he was leaving Örebro for Rögle after the season. In connection with this, the captain of the team came out and expressed his dissatisfaction with the club.

HV71 started briskly in the second half and four minutes later Nick Schur scored an open goal, but Jonas Enroth managed to crash in at the last second with a sweaty sideways motion.

Breaking a long target drought

Ordeal was doubly so for Shore, who dangled the puck the next moment in an offensive blue. William Wakeman thanked for the invitation and scored 3-0 for the home team. The goal meant he was broken by a 24-match drought in goal.

– It’s great, of course. I almost forgot the feeling, so you have to hope you get that feeling more often in the future, says Wakeman at C More.

Then and there it felt like the game was decided.

Dramatic ending

The visitors, however, cut back a few minutes later, though, when Mikel Bodker’s shot was deflected off the crossbar by Joey Lalegia.

Five minutes into the third period, La Liga was pointed out for another pass, when he played Andre Peterson, who hit a powerful shot to make it 3-2.

Soon afterwards Lalegia came close to equalizing for the visitors in a power play – but the post stood in the way.

And then the finish became very dramatic, as Jonas Enroth denied the guests a goal with another brilliant save on the goal line.

Before that, Nick Shore had conceded a penalty in lethal fashion, to say the least, when he slammed into the club in frustration – but instead hit the referee.

Orebro weathered the storm, and Rodrigo Apóles managed to score his third goal in an empty cage this time.

In the end it was 5-2 after Matthias Broome did the same.
