Napoli is being investigated for accounting violations.
The announcement comes a week after Juventus was penalized for similar offences.
But there is no danger that Napoli will be affected during the current season, according to several Italian media outlets.
It was announced last week that Juventus would lose 15 points in Serie A. The penalty was issued after investigating the Torino club for accounting violations.
Now it’s the next club’s turn.
Napoli are also being investigated for fraudulent accounting, in connection with the transfer of Victor Osimhen from Lille in the fall of 2020, writes Gazzetta dello Sport, which refers to Il Mattino.
Four players worth 222 million
Osimhen’s price was 72 million euros, about 803 million kroner, including bonuses. 222 of those millions were “pushed” in the form of four players to Lille. Relatively unknown players are suspected of being overvalued by Napoli, reports Football Italia.
Gazzetta dello Sport follows the same path, writing that the public prosecutor finds the players’ value “suspicious”, while at the same time asserting that there are difficulties in assessing the player’s value.
The majority of the Napoli administration are suspects in accounting crimes.
The prosecution believes that there is not as much evidence to deal with as in the Juventus case. There, they gained access to recorded phone calls and emails, which is not present in the Napoli case, writes Get Italian Football News.
The prosecutor announced that the investigation would take at least six months. Thus, there is no danger that Napoli will be affected sportingly during the current season.
