“It’s been hard, I’m trying to take responsibility”

JÖNKÖPING. Brendan Shenmin made it through a chaotic fall semester.

Now the energetic Lulea striker is one of the most exciting players in the SHL.

– It was a balance on the edge of a sharp knife that I want to keep pushing forward, he says.

In October, Brendan Sheenemin was fined twice for his filming.

Many of Lulea’s supporters turned against him and wanted him removed from the club.

– It’s been tough. I’m trying to take responsibility for what happened. Right now I’m just trying to put it behind me and learn from it in the future. I don’t want to look back too much, I’ve grown from going through these setbacks, says Brendan Sheenemen.

Adversity in every season

Sporting director Stefan Skogan-Nelson told Sportbladet at the time that they would be in talks with Brendan Sheenemen if that happened.

– I think I’ve had a lot of support from the club and my team-mates in what I’ve been through. It was messy in there for a while with a lot going on, but I think I did a good job of preventing it, says Brendan Sheenemen.

With an energetic and energetic style of play, he engages many in and around the league.

There are setbacks in every season that you have to go through. It makes one a better player. I’m trying to learn from it and turn it to my advantage. I turned it into my motivation, says Brendan Shenemin.

“There was a lot of frustration.”

In his last seven games, the 32-year-old Canadian has scored eight points.

In the 5-2 away win over HV71, he assisted 2-0 and 3-0 goals in the match.

Now things are starting to go my way. I had to work hard for her with energy and work ethic. It’s nice to be rewarded for the work you’ve done. In fact, I think I played well all season, but she didn’t bounce right and the team lost. There was a lot of frustration. “The team and I have had to fight our way through adversity,” says Brendan Shenemin.

There were also points in four straight games and there was clarity in his game.

I want to try to stay humble and not take things for granted, because things can change very quickly. It helps a lot to play with confidence. I just want to help the team win, says Brendan Shenemin.

“stimulates feelings”

How hard was it for you to experience the situation yourself when it was at its worst?

– I always had a lot of setbacks in my career, so I got used to it in a way. It’s about the kind of player I am, I play with a lot of attitude and excitement. There will be risks and rewards, and it can be very valuable when the rewards outweigh the risks.

Ever since the Brendan Shinnimin-Linus Fröberg-Konstantin Komarek series was paired together, they have succeeded.

Brendan Shenemin is on the move.

– Our streak has led to team offense lately. Linus Froberg and I have played a lot together before and find each other with passes. We all work hard and we can all hit the targets, then the offense and production progresses. We don’t have to think too much, but read each other instinctively, says Brendan Sheenemen.

“Learn from Omark”

In the 1-0 home win against Rögle on Thursday night, it was Brendan Shinnimin who played Konstantin Komarek to goal with one of his best assists this season.

His passing ability and puck handling are reminiscent of Peter “Foba” Forsberg.

– I learned that from Linus Omark last season. It’s the chemistry we have on the series and we know where we have each other,” says Brendan Sheenemen.

Now against HV71 was Linus Froberg instead the “Foppa” or Omark with his performance for you?

– Exactly, like that. It was the same again today as we found the gaps. Many modern targets have come about in a similar way. Linus Fröberg really has a sense and skill for the game, I owe him a lot and it’s nice to be able to take advantage of that.

“Owe them all”

The series can also be coded by looking for contract extensions because all three contracts expire after this season.

It’s always tough when it’s decade season. I just want to focus on the fact that this is my team now and I feel like I owe everything to them. I want to help the team win, the next best thing I can do is block thoughts about extensions and other contracts, says Brendan Shenemin.

Do you want to stay at Luleå or are you looking to continue your career elsewhere?

Of course I want to stay at Lulea, it’s a great club, great coaches and great teammates. I want to continue to be a part of Luleå, but I understand how this business works. Decisions should be made by the people who get paid to make them. I get paid to do my work on the ice and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

“Continue to search”

After the previous slump, Luleå now has three consecutive three-pointers and can start glancing towards the playoff spots.

– Now we have to keep looking for the teams at the top and have a play-off mentality in every game. All I can think about is going to the playoffs and staying there with a long streak of playoffs, Brendan Sheenemen says.

Also questioned was Johani Tervainen, who became top scorer with two goals against HV71 after 16 matches without goals and had not scored in more than two months since 24 November.
