Mykhailo Mudryk said “n-word” on TikTok – forced to apologise

On the soccer field, new Chelsea billionaire Michailo Modric has had a great start.

But off the field, he ends up in serious trouble – because of a Tiktok video where he says the “n-word”.

Now he has to apologize.

In the clip, which was posted to TikTok last July, Modric is said to have used the “n-word” repeatedly.

Since then, the video has been viewed more than 214,000 times and the 22-year-old has been heavily criticized.

Mudryk himself explains this by quoting the lyrics to American rapper Lil Baby’s song Freestyle from 2017.

Throughout the song, which lasts two minutes and 43 seconds, the “n-word” appears 16 times.

But no matter what context he used the word in, the fans are now raging against the Ukrainian winger.

The video is condemned

Modric himself apologized for his statement, and the clip was deleted from his TikTok account.

The British newspaper, The Sun, quoted his representatives as saying, “Mikhailo is deeply sorry that the video caused offense.”

“Although his intention was simply to quote a lyric, Mykhailo regrets his decision and wholeheartedly accepts that it was not a good fit.”

Kick It Out, an anti-racism organization in football, condemned the video.

“Kick It Out condemns the use of all racial slurs, including the n-word, regardless of context,” she wrote.

“The N-word is deeply offensive and the use of that term by senior figures in football can only serve to turn people away from the game.”
