AIK beat Västerås after Gynge’s hat-trick

It looked like it was going to be another grim AIK night.

But at home against Västerås, Richard Genge, 36, took the lead with a hat-trick and AIK secured a long-awaited 4-2 win.

Four straight losses and an eerily close relegation qualification.

AIK has been in a not-so-good direction lately, to say the least. But maybe he can turn around after the 4-2 at home against Vasteras?

However, AIK was in a bad position.

He outnumbered the visitors in the first period and led them by a goal. AIK would already tie in the middle section, but at the end of the second period, Jimmie Jansson made it 2-1.

There and then it looked bleak for AIK, but it will turn around. Richard Genge came back early in the third period with his second goal of the game and just a minute later the team’s leading scorer Daniel Muzito Bagenda extended the score to 3-2.

In the end it was 4-2 when Richard Genge scored his third goal of the match when he fired a volley into an empty net in the last minute of the match.

– It’s too strong for us. Especially considering Wednesday’s heavy game (3-4 against Al Matna), it’s great to turn it around, says Gynge in C More.

The teams meet again tomorrow, and then in Vasteras.

– We take three points with us and reload. It’s really cool with “back-to-back,” says Gynge.

AIK wasn’t the only team in crisis that managed to reverse a grim trend.

Thanks to three unanswered goals in the second half, Tingsryd managed a 3-1 away win at Östersund and the team’s first win after five straight losses.

But it’s still hard for Fastervik. In Nicholas Falk’s first match as manager, they failed to take any points from Dalarna, but lost to in-form Mora with a score of 1–3. This means that they have nine points until second place Tingsryd reaches.
