Great interview with AIK’s new acquisition Viktor Fischer

oblique. He boycotts social media and has not spoken to Danish journalists in a year.

Victor Fisher goes his own way.

– I tend to give a lot of myself in many contexts: in front of television cameras, in interviews or on the soccer field. If I give more of myself, I’m afraid it’s going to be too much, says AIK’s new acquisition.

Victor Fisher is excited. AIK’s hot drill, where John Guidetti and Christopher Nordfeldt smoke together, is a nod to the Dane that he’s ended up in exactly the right place.

It was great when we played. I’ve talked to Milosevic, Guidetti and others about it now then. Sure, you could risk crossing the line but today… he was just fat. It probably shouldn’t be like this in every practice, but it’s great when it does. Football and emotions. Then everyone shakes hands.

The Danish star loan has only had one real training session with the team, but he has been surprised by his high form.

– It really works well. It makes me happy. The intensity is nice. We all want it and so does quality. I think you noticed right away that this is a nice set. It was fun that the training was so good individually for me as well. But the most important thing is that I am ready for my first competitive match.

The 29-year-old Fisher, who must be rusty, has shown that he’s not far from match form. The touch was soft, the jerk sharp and the finish distinct.

“It’s a fat city.”

The big question all AIK players ask themselves is, of course, this: can he reach the sky-high level he showed at Ajax and Copenhagen?

– That’s a good question. Because I really believe I can be good again. But I also have the insight that I know I need a certain kind of environment to be good at.

It is believed that he found that environment in Stockholm.

– I think AIK can be likewise. They want to win all the time. They do not accept to lose. There are some really good players and footballers here. It’s a fat city too, Stockholm. And so I feel that the coach will be able to give me the opportunity to be a good footballer.

At the same time, he does not want to fly away.

It’s no secret that my body has to work. If I succeed, I have no doubt that I can be really, really good. And I do everything in my power to make it happen. I eat right, I exercise right and I make sure my body feels great. If my body works, there is no doubt that I will be able to make a difference for AIK. But… of course I can’t give any guarantees.

“Only FCK that interests me”

What kind of reactions did you get in Denmark when you canceled out the Danish league for AIK and Allsvenskan?

– I really do not know. And I didn’t really care for him. For me, there is only one club (FC Copenhagen) in Denmark that is interesting to me. And it was not appropriate now. AIK wanted me and it was the club that showed a lot of interest in the way they wanted to use me. So I never doubted it.

Are you surprised that there is no dialogue with FCK?

Quite frankly: I actually don’t know. But I don’t think it would have been the right time for me, I didn’t even think about it. The timing is not there. However, the timing was right to try something new. But I’m not surprised or disappointed with FCK. I’m glad to be at AIK. AIK seems to be a club with heart and beat and high expectations.

The Danish league is seen as a bit more straightforward, but in Sweden there is a better atmosphere and more crowds. How do you see that?

– I’ve heard about it. After all, associations are owned by members, with that 51 percent rule, and the atmosphere is no doubt better. There are more fans in the stands and there is a tradition to go to football here. That you really have a club to support.

– I don’t know much yet, but it seems like a very attractive league to play in. Many talented young players come. It is then possible that there is not as much money in the Swedish league as in the Danish league, and that players may choose to opt out of the Allsvenskan because they are better paid elsewhere. But there is a special mix of great traditions, great arenas and great fans in Sweden.

“It can get egotistical.”

During his career Fischer was often described as a different kind of footballer. Cheerful, eloquent, with a lot more on his mind than football. However, he had some difficulties with this classification as “more than a footballer”.

– I think it can be a bit self-glorifying. You know… that I should say ‘I know a little art too’. I don’t have a need for that. But sure, it’s something I know a little bit about. And I do it for my own good. Not to others.

But the fact is that it is He is A little special compared to the Allsvenskan players you usually meet. Not everyone is passionate about architecture.

– I like to feel a little wind through my hair and go for a walk in the city. It gives me inspiration. I may need some energy that doesn’t come from football. My picture of Stockholm is that it is a very beautiful city, he says and continues:

– And the Swedes have good, simple taste. The architecture of Stockholm is interesting. I think it would be amazing to see all the different old buildings and churches.

That’s why he boycotts social media

He already knows the neighborhoods well and says he hopes to find new friends in Stockholm.

– It’s like Copenhagen, where there is a certain kind of feeling in every area? There is the Old Town, Södermalm, Östermalm, Norrmalm, and then Solna. I’m excited to see all the different parts and culture that exist in each neighborhood. I want to try it so I want to do a few laps in town, but maybe not for the first few months when it’s really cold…

Fisher likes to go his own way. For example, he rejects social media and wants to be “old school.”

– Because I feel like it might be too much for me. I don’t need to be there either. I tend to give a lot of myself in many contexts: in front of the cameras, in interviews, or on the soccer field. If I give more of myself, I’m afraid it might be too much. Because when I am, I am. But I also need to be alone.

This need made him distance himself from journalists.

– For example, I haven’t spoken to the Danish press for a year. I needed peace. There was so much around me for so long that I needed time to find myself and have that peace. What I want is to show that I’m a good footballer, not to be visible all the time.
