SHL: Luleå defeats HV71

Two seconds left in overtime.

Then Lulea’s Julius Honka scored the decisive goal in the 3-2 win against HV71.

The SHL’s lone Tuesday night game developed into a thriller.

Second-placed HV71 led through Radan Link at half time. But Lulea turned around and scored twice in 37 seconds at the end of the second half.

First, Julius Honka equalized with a direct shot. Then Jonas Rask crept down towards the post, Tommy Salainen served him well and made it 2-1.

However, HV71 got up and the match went to extra time when Radan Link equalized with six minutes left.

Get close to punishments

For a long time, an even game looked like it would be decided by a penalty shootout. But with five seconds left, Jack Connolly won the tie in the attacking zone and passed it to Julius Honka who scored the winning goal – with two seconds left.

– I don’t think you can completely lose the drawing in this situation, says Sea Moore expert Staffan Kronwall.

Honka, as expected, was satisfied after the belated decision.

– It was a tight match. But we pressed really well at the end and it’s a great move from Jacques and his positioning is perfect for me.

The Kings score was missing

Most of the stuff before Tuesday night’s game revolved around the fact that Lulia king Isaac Bernstrom and HV71 like Andre Peterson are missing out.

The game was actually going to be played on February 18, but due to the CHL Lolio Final, it was moved. This means that Brännström and Petersson cannot be there because they are instead in Malmö where Tre Kronor has gathered for the Beijer Hockey Games.
