Börje Salming got a full weekend of salutes.
Then Efter fem and Nyhetsmorgon broadcasts moved to Gävle.
“It is both an honor and an urgency that Nyhetsmorgon will be broadcast live from Gävle on Saturday,” says Program Director Stevo Tornquist.
Börje Salming is celebrated in Gävle with the “Game of Börje” on Saturday, February 11th, with the money going towards ALS research.
Swedish stars like Nicklas Lidström and Peter Forsberg play on a veteran team from Tre Kronor and take on a veteran team from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Among others, Mats Sundin and Salming’s longtime friend and colleague, Daryl Sittler, play there.
The game will be played in two halves over 21 minutes, with 21 being Salming’s number for both Toronto and Tre Kronor.

The tribute match also causes C More and TV4 to make some changes. The channel kicks off the weekend celebration on Friday when Efter fem broadcasts from Stortorget in Gävle – and the next day Nyhetsmorgon will broadcast from the same location.

Lasse Granqvist will be commentating on the match.

Börje Salming was diagnosed with ALS this summer and passed away at the end of November.
