Crisis continues at Liverpool – Thiago is feared out for up to a month

The crisis in Liverpool is deepening.

Just in time for Monday’s heated derby against Everton comes the next setback – when it’s clear that Thiago will miss the game.

It is now feared that the Spaniard could be sidelined for up to a month.

Few would have thought that Liverpool would be in 10th place, a full 22 points behind league leaders Arsenal after 20 rounds in the Premier League.

But it’s not just the poor results that worry German coach Jurgen Klopp.

The list of infections has recently evolved and continues.

Risk of missing the big meeting

The latest name on the list is the team’s Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who was out of training last week with a thigh injury.

– He had problems, but I have to ask the medical team how much I can say. Klopp said at a press conference on Friday that he had not been able to train.

And the latest information was hardly what the Germans and the masses had hoped for. The 31-year-old is expected to be out of action for up to a month, according to The Telegraph.

Which means that he will not only miss the Merseyside derby on Monday, but also miss the first meeting with Real Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday next week.

After the World Cup break, Thiago started in all matches for Liverpool and was an important cog for the team – at least given that the Reds are already suffering injuries to key players such as Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Ibrahim Konate and Roberto Firmino.
