Caroline Seeger is ready to make a comeback – talking about the unique solution

Marbella. Caroline Seeger, 37, has not played a game since the EC semi-final against England.

Now the veteran reveals she’s ready to return this weekend.

– This is my will, says Seeger.

The wind is light on the sunny Spanish coast when the Swedish national team is training. The rain is hanging in the air and Caroline Seeger just leaves a trunk before hitting the gym instead.

The 37-year-old who had hamstring surgery after EC is close to making a comeback. Skåne’s derby against Kristianstad in the Swedish Cup appears to be the veteran’s first since the semi-final against England at the end of July.

– If everything goes as planned, I’m definitely aiming for the weekend, when we have the Swedish Cup. It is my will, she says and continues:

– If everything goes according to plan and you train, I’ll be ready. And there will probably be a set time for the match, but just allowing a change and being in the match was a long time ago.

How eager are you to do exactly that. Change and join the game again?

– starving. It’s been six and a half months since I last did it, so it would be nice to give it another go. I get that feeling and the adrenaline you get when you play football, so I’m really looking forward to that.

During half a year of rehabilitation, the midfielder learned the importance of pacing slowly and perhaps above all listening to the people around him

It’s hard being a player who always wants to be involved in everything. All the training, all the matches. When someone pulls their handbrake, it’s hard to think they’re okay, but I also knew that if this rehab was for the best, I should listen to them, too.

Although Seger is close to returning, there is no chance to play during the current national team camp.

Gerhardtson had already announced upon the team’s presentation that it was a special arrangement and that the midfielder was not available for matches.

– It’s really nothing strange. It’s a conversation between me, Peter, and Marika. So it’s good that they are allowed to meet our physiotherapist here, whom I know very well. Seeger himself says they will become part of the final part of rehab.

But it is, after all, a unique solution for the Swedish captain who dreams of making it to the WC this summer. The tournament, which will be its 14th international tournament.

– That’s what I fought for. This is what I have as a target image. I take it day by day now. She says and continues:

– First of all, I am very happy that I can play football without pain. Then everything can just come.
