Double penalty as Frölunda beat Luleå • SHL

Lulea achieved a very important victory in the search for a place in the playoffs.

But sudden drama was required.

– It’s not too late, says the hero of the match, Pontus Celine.

Important points were at stake when play-off winner Lulea took on Frolunda at home at the Kop Norrbotten Arena.

It looked bad for a long time for the home side, who found themselves at a disadvantage eight minutes later after Joel Lundqvist made it 1-0 for the visitors on a counter-attack.

Lulea was not very effective in the closing stages while Fro Londa’s Danish keeper Frederic Deschus played admirably.

The 21-year-old’s net was intact midway through the final half.

But then Lulea defender Jonas Berglund surged forward and showed class when he brought Deschaux onto the ice with a delicious move and pulled a backhand into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

– What a goal! Berglund is absolutely fantastic in the free position as a full-back, says C Moore expert Sunny Lindstrom.

The match went to overtime and there the home team was the strongest.

The hero of the match was Pontus Celine who scored his first goal in 30 matches.

– It’s not too late, he told C More.

– Every goal and every point counts at the end of the season. It was really cool. So it was really nice.

The game was furious from the start and with two minutes left in the first half it got really hot in the Frolunda goal, after Philipp Hasa delivered several cross checks against Ole Nicopetere of the home team.

Double penalty

Finn did not appreciate it, and after a moment the fight was real – and both players were sent off for the rest of the match.

C Moore expert Niklas Wieggaard questioned the ruling.

– Cross check, neck swing and a little bit of roughness about that.

– To get a penalty for that… Yeah, that’s how things look, says Wikegård.
