But switching to Mantas Armalis had no effect.
Färjestad won the match 5-2 – after which Kaskisuo suspended the media.
It was a night of making a comeback and debuting at Tegera Arena.
In the home team, Marek Hrvik returned to Leksand after being injured in contact with a warm-up (!) two months ago. And at Färjestad, new defender Brandon Davidson made his debut in the impressive number 88 jersey.
And it penetrated directly into the match.
Leksandssonen and now Färjestads back-up, Axel Bergkvist, hit a shot after 44 seconds that Lucas Forsell drove in neatly with a top level club. Fittingly, Forssell became a leading scorer when the Vancouver Canucks sent his NHL club into the game to study talent from Fagersta.
The second period is eventful
Then each team scored before Hisa Frederick howled for the first time.
An eventful second period really started before relegation when Leksand opted to change goalkeeper, unusually after only 20 minutes of play and the score at 1-2. And the goals scored by the guests were close control and a free position as Nygård had all the time in the world to get a Leksand goalkeeper.
It is only noted for three wins
Last year’s first goalkeeper, Casimir Casciso, has had a difficult time this season in the blue and white jersey, managing just three wins in the 12 games he has played.
Now he had to hand over the goal cage to Mantas Armalis, one of the best goalkeepers in the series, who was replaced after the first half.
But in the end, even Armalis had to give up. A shot from the blue line took a strange puck trajectory and when the Leixand defense checked one post, the puck hit the other post and in the end Joachim Nygaard scored 3-1 for the visitors.
Färjestad eventually won the game 5-2 after pulling away at the end of the third period.
Kaskisuo chose after the match not to report to Leksand’s media.
