End of Judgment Files – A change in generations awaits

There will be a major generational change in the judiciary.

Veterans Soren Persson, Per Claesson, Jan Sandström, and Anders Jansson are wrapping up their careers.

– Oh, I’ve been through a lot. Among other things, an SHL player threw me a five-hundred at the bar and wanted me to leave the puck during the draws, so it worked for him, says Janne Sandström.

We are nearing the end of the regular season in both Hockeyallsvenskan and the SHL.

Many exciting matches and series finals await, but it is also a time when clubs gather their squads for next season.

Likewise for the judges.

The injury stopped him

There will be a big change in the refereeing team next season. Some real veterans to thank.

Per Claesson, Soren Persson, Jan Sandström and Anders Jansson have resigned.

– There are mixed feelings. I had the misfortune to injure myself last fall and have not ruled since. I’m on sick leave now, says Soren Pearson, who made his first-class debut in 2004-05.

– I had to jump to the SC final already in the first season. Ulf Radbier tore his hamstring and Anna was thrown in as a substitute. At the time, Pearson says, there was only one judge.

Pearson will retire Tuesday night in Scandinavia.

Real Profile wraps up his career this week. Assistant referee Jan Sandström.

– It’s mixed feelings I’m ending now. I’ve played ice hockey since I was 14 and now I’m almost 50. I was able to judge SM last spring and doing it like an old man and beat the little chips was so cute. Of course I wanted to run another season, but I got an answer from the league that they had other plans and that, of course, is sad, says Jan Sandström.

With a long career comes deadly events, on and off the ice. Referees are part of the hockey family and profiles.

I was identified after an incident with Holtet many years ago. Pearson says he didn’t see me coming from behind and the TV pictures are a bit grainy.

Refuse to “bribe” the player

Sandstrom was also subjected to lame bribery attempts.

– Kuben Andersson and I were at the pub after the game and met Jonas Rönnkvist, who was playing at Luleå. He was probably annoyed that he had bad drawing stats and threw me 500 kroner, which I accepted and thought it was a demon who did such a thing. Jonas wanted me to drop the puck on the back of his racket. But the next time we saw each other on the ice, I rejected him from teken. He got nothing for the five hundred, Sandström says and laughs.

Thomas “Copen” Anderson holds the record for matches refereed at 1,104.

Sören Persson finished at 900 in the SHL and Pehr Claesson at 945. Jan Sandström finished at 730.
