On Saturday morning, Djurgården’s group was decided in the Swedish Cup. Djurgården is so far undefeated in the context after wins over both Örebro and Landskrona. And the line will continue.
The Blue Stripes defeated Brommapojkarna 2-1 thus securing the quarter-final spot in the cup play-off.
The team captain stepped forward
But the victory will not be comfortable for Djurgården. The match started poorly and it was the visitors who took the first shot and took the lead in the 37th minute through striker Nikola Vasic. But just two minutes later, team captain Magnus Ericsson took over when he equalized with a real goal to make it 1-1. The 32-year-old sprinted from just outside the box and found the left cross in a very elegant way. And only five minutes later he found himself in a similar situation. Then he changed the angle and gave the home team a 2-1 halftime lead.
– I felt fine. I said before the match that these balls are very nice, Eriksson said with a smile to C More and continued:
– Obviously, we want to find our way between their teams. It’s low, but it’s all about us untangling those knots. Otherwise, it’s probably about shooting again.
With this win, Djurgården is ready for the quarter-finals of the Swedish Cup. These matches will take place on March 11-12.
Five days until the European tour continues
The match against BP was the last test before it was time for Djurgården to return to the European game. Thursday sees its first round-of-16 meeting against Poland’s Lech Poznań, where three Swedes are found. Among others is former Animal Farm player Jesper Karlström.
