Players reaction after IFK Göteborg sent off Mikael Stahre

Gothenburg. The players held a dialogue with the club’s management at IFK Gothenburg before Mikael Stahri was sacked as the club’s head coach.

Sportbladet was at Kamratgården ahead of Wednesday’s practice session.

– It’s always sad when that happens, there’s always a dialogue between the club and the player, says Marcus Berg.

Mikael Stahri has been sacked as coach of IFK in Gothenburg after a difficult start to the season.

The players came to training on Wednesday with assistant coaches Alexander Tengrid and William Lundin.

– It’s always sad and difficult when something like this happens. At the same time, we stand behind the club. They made a decision and we just have to look forward. We have four weeks left until the start of the series and we have to pull together as a group and keep going, says Marcus Berg.

Was the cast asked how you saw the role of Mikael Stehr?

– There is always a dialogue between the club and the player. Then it is a decision made. As I said, we are behind the club in all situations. They are the employers, and we have to stand behind it. Then we can go on with it. We must live in the present.

Is it the right decision?

The future can tell. Like I said, the club decides and we stand behind the club. We players have to deal with it with the leaders here. We are the ones who are going to do it, we are the ones who are going to change it.

Emil Salomonsson also understands the responsibility of the players in the situation.

With a statement like that, I always feel like you failed as a player. It is common, of course. It’s tough or rough, not funny. You get to know Mikael Stahr as a person and a leader. We failed as a team as well. It’s always overwhelming, says Emil Salomonson.
