Lulia cleans up the team before the upcoming SHL season

Present with a new role for the successful player Niklas Olsson

The 10th place in the SHL was a huge disappointment for last year’s finalist Lulio.

Now the club announces the disappearance of eleven players from the team.

For Linus Fröberg and Niklas Olausson, discussions about the future are still ongoing.

Lulea narrowly managed to reach the SM playoffs at the end of the regular season.

2–1 in the round of 16 matches against Öskarshamn and 3–4 in the matches against series winners Väckshaw still meant they could finish the season with their heads held high.

Now let the club know that the following players will be gone: Jonathan Andersson, Isak Bernström, Oskar Engsund, Julius Honka, Konstantin Komarek, Leo Komarov, Karl Mattsson, Niklas Oloson, Philipp Berochta, Jonas Rask and Tommy Salinen.

None of these names came as a surprise.

Jonathan Andersson will go to Färjestad, Isac Brännström will go to HV71, Oskar Engsund will go to Oskarshamn and Julius Honka has been called up by Örebro, among others.

Talking about the future role

Striker Niklas Olsson, 36, enjoyed success when he returned from Austrian Graz on deadline day February 15, but Lulea seems to want him in a different role there.

“We have continued discussions about the future with Linus Fröberg and will also be speaking with Niklas Olausson about a future role in the association,” Luleå wrote.

On their way, defenders Markus Hardegard (Orebro), Ludwig Jansson (Södertälje) and Oskarie Laaksonen (Dallas Stars) as well as forwards Linus Omark (Geneva-Servet), Pontus Andreesson (Detroit Red Wings), Nikola Pasek (Södertälje), David Lilja (Beck Karlskoga) and Patrick Zdrahal (Litvinov).
