Loui Eriksson can resign after Frölunda’s exit from the SHL

Louis Ericsson embraced the family after Frolunda’s exodus

Gothenburg. Joel Lundqvist, 41, did the part.

Now it looks like the next Frölunda veteran will do the same.

– It’s hard to let go, but maybe it’s time to move on, says Louis Erickson, 37.

It was a comeback for Loui Eriksson in Frölunda after many years in the NHL. But it ended in Scandinavia on Monday night after losing in overtime to Växjö.

Many now indicate that the veteran striker has done his part.

It’s hard to let go, but maybe it’s time to move on. It costs you when you’re playing hockey and you’re away a lot, Erickson says.

Is it a decision you’ve already made or should you think about it more?

– I don’t know. This has been so much fun being a part of. I told myself this would be the last. I can’t give a real answer now, I was hoping to win and play again on Wednesday. It is slightly sour.

family hug

Louis Erickson states that a career means a lot of fun memories for the whole family. In the catacombs after the game, he hugged his family and there is no doubt that his hockey trip meant a lot to them, too.

– They have been with me all these years, supported me and watched every game. Obviously, it’s hard to watch when you lose like that. They also have feelings and were a little sad after the match. Erickson says it’s always nice to get a little hug afterward.

“Enjoyable trip”

The 37-year-old left Frölunda in 2005 to play in the NHL. He stayed there until this year. He joined in November and played a prominent role in Frölunda’s quest for the SM crown.

If this was the last season – was it a good ending?

– truly. I had the feeling that I could play and I showed that I could do it in this league. You did well so it’s good to show that. Of course, you would want to go ahead and win, that would have been the icing on the cake, but it’s not easy. It was an interesting trip.
