Miko Manner now speaks for the first time since being kicked out of Brinas.
After returning to his native Finland, he was not available to the Swedish media.
– It was a year of disappointments, he tells Vasapladet.
Mikko Manner was fired as head coach at Brennas before the qualifying game.
Som Assisterande coach up to finska förbundscaptenen Jukka Jalonen förbereder han sig nu för home WC.
Swedish-speaking Vasabladet met him at the Vasa skating rink in his hometown.
It was a year of disappointments and failures. It was fun staying in the same place for a while longer. The series, the club, the fans – everything was great. Then it really bothers me that I can’t live up to the expectations and what is needed to be successful in SHL, says Mikko Manner.
“something hardens”
This was his second season as head coach at Brynäs, as he also extended his contract through the following season.
The battle for the bottom in the SHL was a new experience for him, he says, and it was a challenge to be able to enjoy such a situation and create a positive atmosphere.
“It’s something that strengthens,” she says in typical Finnish fashion.
– I learned alot. And above all, what I have to do differently. You learned about the game and how it works in a different culture. I learned how to coach and how to develop my leadership so that I can communicate better, says Miko Manner.
I got a bloody tooth
So far, he has not finished any new daily work at club level.
He says he got a bloody tooth in Sweden and might want to try it abroad again.
Now that I’m on Earth, I’m going to start dreaming about bigger things again. This is what goes on. I haven’t lost hope in anything. What happened is that it went wrong and now it’s just a matter of working on it. The next place I have the honor of working as a coach, says Mikko Maner, I will show that I can do better.
With Ove Molin as the new coach, Brynäs loses the playoffs against Malmö 4-1 in matches and plays in Hockeyallsvenskan next season.
Niklas Galstead is the new coach with Uwe Mollen and Anders “Maskin” Karlsson the new assistant coaches.
Mikko Manner, assistant coaches Ari-Pekka Pajuluoma and Kalle Kaskinen fick alla shine at the same time.
