Nybro Vikings is ready for Allsvenskan hockey after the supernatural drama

Four teams have a chance to advance in Allsvenskan hockey – and super drama right from the start.

In the end, it was the Vikings of Nibiru who celebrated the victory all night long.

– He’s completely insane, completely insane. What a hell of a trip, coach Pontus Nyberg said on the Expressen broadcast.

The victory song, the thrown gloves and the TV disc hook sets. Joy was running wild at Nybro HC when it became apparent that the Smålänners had clinched their Allsvenskan hockey ticket.

But it was, as expected, exciting.

The dream was alive for Kalmar, Wassby, Hudiksvall and Nybro as all teams had 16 points going into the final round.

Kalmar took over the Fasby.

Hudiksvall was visited by Troja-Ljungby.

And Nibro has met old Piteå at home.

Hudiksvall had the grip

During the matches that the team made other than time, time, time, time …

With one period remaining, Hudiksvall was in control of first place (2-1) after goals from Carl Westberg and William Eckmel.

Five minutes into the third, Nybro extended the lead to 2-0, while Hudiksvall lost 2-2. There and then Nybro was alone with 19 points when it was 1-1 between Kalmar and Vasby.

Kalmar dream seconds

Then it struck a few miles to the east, at Kalmar. Within twelve seconds, Kalmar scored twice, and Allsvenskan was their place.

Nybro ran away to 5-1, and stood on the same goal difference as Kalmar. But KHC scored three more goals than the local rival.

With 50 seconds left, Nebro gets a chance to play five-on-three. There, Eero Savelahti bombed 6-1, and suddenly Nybro had a better goal difference than Kalmar.

“He’s very nervous.”

Instead, Kalmar had taken the knife to their throat and needed to score another goal.

– He’s so nervous now that I don’t know where to go, waiting for the match in Kalmar to end, – said Erik Lindström from Nybro on Expressen.

With just over two minutes left, Väsby squeezed in, and the drama was complete.

It finished 3-2, and Nybro was ready for Allsvenskan hockey for the first time since 2009.

– He’s completely insane, completely insane. What an amazing trip, it’s crazy. I don’t know what to say, says coach Pontus Nyberg in the Expressen broadcast.
