Patrick Berglund is aiming to return to Vasteras next season

Patrick Berglund ended his hockey career in 2021.

Now he is preparing to return, in Vasteras, for next season.

– They wanted me to sign now, but they’ve been so bad this year, so I wanted to stay away, says Berglund on The Cam & Strick podcast.

Former NHL player Patrick Berglund has been training with Västerås in Hockeyallsvenskan over the winter.

Despite rumors of a return, no contract was signed.

– They (Vasteras) wanted me to sign this season, and I kind of wanted to sign, but they were so bad so I wanted to walk away that year, says Patrick Berglund on the Andy Strickland and Cam Janssen podcast.

However, next season looks set to be a comeback for Berglund.

– I’m trying to prepare myself to be able to play again next year, in fact. We’ll see how it goes, I need to get in shape and all that, but there’s still a lot of months to go, so that’s what I plan to do.

He had “no fun at all” in Brinas

Berglund’s last stop in his hockey career was Brynäs, then in the SHL.

In Brynäs, there was one season, before the contract was terminated.

– I only went there because one of my best friends was playing there, and that year I didn’t have fun at all. It was so bad, and after that year I felt like I didn’t want to do it anymore. I didn’t want to go to another club, so I quit after that, he says.

Patrick Berglund also previously played for the St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabers, and Djurgården.
